A valuable reference guide for medicine in the backcountry. It's worth buying if you want to understand the current best practices in wilderness medicine. For example, I wanted to learn more about protecting myself from ticks; Chapter 39 addresses protection from blood-feeding arthropods. One caveat: this book is written for medical professionals in a compressed manner, it's not light reading and some of the treatments can only be done by a medical professional. One bonus: the hard cover show more version also comes with an e-book. show less
