I paid (or I should say my company paid) right around $100 for this book and it was definitely the worst text book I've had through about 6 years of college (spread over the last 20 years). It completely hamstrung the class. The teacher spent so much time running damage control on all the errors in the book that we never made it to last two chapters.
After 3 or 4 chapters we started an errata forum in hopes of answering questions outside of class but there were just too many of them. There show more were missing files, misnamed files, instructions telling you to do something that was already done, instructions that were incorrect, instructions to refer to diagrams that didn't exist, references to exercises that didn't exist etc... And then finally add to that the fact that many of the projects were worded so poorly that it was often hard for even the instructor to understand what they meant.
So because this publisher/author couldn't afford to pay someone (even at $100 a book) to actually go through the book and do the exercises, me and 20 other students (and that's just in my class) had to suffer through weeks of trying fix the text and learn the material. The only satisfaction we get is knowing that this book will never be used again at our school and that our instructor has written a letter to the publishers detailing our travails. show less
