Read for the Hugos, when two people who loved each other once meet again it is often awkward, but more so when one of them wants to wipe out all the life on a planet and the other wants to save it...

It was an interesting story about humanity and what we perceive as human and whether or not we would regard off-shoot races as sufficiently other to regard them as allies or enemies.
A trio of explorers go to investigate a lost seed ship to see what has happened since communication was lost. What they find is not what they expect.
Lots of idea not a lot of showing what the characters were feeling or motivations.

Rather pretty in a stilted way. A bit info-dumpy. Some issues may be translation artefacts, but I thought the story was a bit disjointed.
