This book was an okay light read, good for a rainy day which was when I read it. The mystery itself wasn't very hard to solve.

A local real estate dealer, Carl Conley, is found dead on the beach by Tony and Pat Pratt. Tony is a mystery writer and Pat is a financial advisor. They live in Portland but have a beach house in Musket Beach. They are warned by the local police officer, Barry Barrett, to not try to solve the murder but, of course, they don't listen. Then Tony has to leave Pat alone show more at the beach while he takes care of some business for his old ad agency in LA. Pat is scared by prowlers and also concerned at the frequent appearances of grocer, Martin Ross. When Tony can't reach her by telephone he drops everything and flies back as soon as he can.

The writing is rather hackneyed and the frequent alliteration of first and last names is too cute. I loved the details about Oregon's coast though and it makes me want to visit there again.
