Plot: Maggie and her Grandpa play a singing/rhyming game as they look out at the ocean during the different seasons. Maggie notices that as the weather changes, so does the colour of the ocean. It can be black, grey, blue and white! What doesn’t change is the fact that she can always discover new things at the ocean with her Grandpa.
My reaction: The song aspect of the prose will be very enticing to young audiences. This is a great book for those familiar with the ocean and those who only show more dream of it. I also like to support Canadian talent and was happy to see that this book was written, illustrated and published in the Maritime provinces.
Recommended Age Level: 2 – 6 year olds
