- USA Today bestselling author M.R. Graham is a native Texan who traces strong cultural roots back to Scotland, Poland, and England. A mild-mannered PhD student during the day, Graham transforms at night into a raging Holmesian loremaster and rabid novelist.
Though passionate about all scholarship and academia, Graham’s training and true love lie with anthropology, particularly the archaeological branch.
Their writing explores the uncanny, the mystical, the mysterious, and the monstrous, seeking to capture the beauty of strangeness.

My favourite vampire, Daniel, has returned, along with my favourite wizard, Kim Reed. MR Graham is a true story teller - her characters are deep and dark, sometimes with a hint of tragic and her plots are darker and laced with the macabre. But there is a human-ness to these paranormal souls - one can't help but feel for some of them and absolutely abhor others. I was sucked into the story (once again) following Kim on her quest to find Lennie, while dealing with the issues of her overbearing show more family and Daniel, who is looking for asylum and hoping that Kim will help him. We're introduced to Jadwiga, the Mora, who is in the center of the story, a puppet in a war for power and powerless to do anything but obey the voice in her head. This is one series that I hope will not end, at least any time soon. show less
I must start by saying that this book is one of the most interesting that I've read in a while. I must also say that I am not really a fan of zombie books but this is definitely not regular zombie fare. Sandie finds a dead body on her back porch trying to get in but it's not your average, run of the mill zombie. It's a dead body inhabited by an alien spirit who can telepathically communicate and read her thoughts. But this spirit is injured and Sandie needs to help it find a way to get home. show more Throw in her best friend, Mike, who just happens to be a Catholic priest, her very colourful co-worker, Connie and give the alien zombie (John Doe) a guitar and book him some local gigs, and you have one unique story. Oh, did I mention that John can manipulate minds and thrives on human emotion? An awesome twist on the zombie theme. This one will stay on my shelves, to be enjoyed again. show less
MR Graham promised that this book would be good and it is! I first read her book "In The Shadow OF The Mountains" which I won as an ARC through Goodreads and Daniel Leland became my new favourite vampire. The Medium is a stand alone novel but it ties in with the Shadow towards the end of the book (much to my surprise and delight!). Lots of action, blood and guts, suspense and ghoulish action with twists and turns all the way through. New charachers - Kim, Coyote and Zeb - who I hope to see show more in future books and some more in-depth information on Sebastian, Lenny and Daniel. Thank you for another great story and I'm anxiously awaiting the next "Books of Lost Knowledge". show less
I love vampire Daniel Leland and his unusual job and (un)life. Vampire stories are at the top of my reading list and this has a different kind of plot and a bit of historical background (WWII London) to add some kick. Definitely a new spin on vampires. Looking forward to reading more of Daniel Leland and his un-dead life.
