Although set in a different time, kids will relate to the adventuresome spirit (and recognize the life lessons) in this biography about Amelia Earhart. This is a wholesome, educational, and enjoyable biography that is part of the Young Patriots Series. Though it is written for both genders, it will have strong appeal for adolescent girls.

Amelia's early life, the timeline of her flying life, and the mystery of her death is a wonderful beginning for elementary students into to biographies of famous people. Amelia Earhart’s life and career, as well as the world of early aviation, offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary learning. In addition to science, math, and geography, students can explore American history, inventions, women’s history, and media studies. The multiculturalism connection is the acceptance that show more women can be whatever they want to be. show less
