Erskine first revived this series from Geroge Mackenzie's previous work in 1759. Erskine 'Principles' are stilled used in today's practice of the law of Scotland. It has been edited by renowned academics and practitioners of Scots law for decades until the 21st edition when the series came to an end in 1922.
It is considered the 15th Edition edited by William Guthrie in 1874 is the most authoritative work and can still be purchased from Edinburgh Legal Education Trust as a reprint.
