About the Author

The highly successful Wee Sing series of books and audiocassettes is the creation of Pamela Conn Beall and her coauthor Susan Nipp. Parents appreciate the books as wholesome entertainment that encourages self-confidence and freedom of expression. Teachers welcome them as an educational tool that show more blends the joy of music with creativity and language development. Beall is a mother and a former music teacher with a strong commitment to keeping classic songs for children alive. She believed in the importance of music for bringing children an uplifting, joyful learning experience that led to her collaboration on a handwritten songbook. Beall's and Nipp's original series has grown into a sing-along audiocassette series with more than 15 titles. A videocassette series with more than 10 titles was launched in 1985. The subjects are varied-from America to nursery rhymes, from dinosaurs to silly songs-but the theme is constant. These are enriching songs, stories, and activities that show children the beauty and wonder around them. Beall has a B.A. in music with a minor in education from Oregon State University and has taught elementary music in the Portland area. Beall lives in Oswego, Oregon. Wee Sing: Musical Games, Rhymes and Silly Songs by Pamela Conn Beall. Epiphany library section 9 E: Juvenile (K- gr. 5), Activities. These Wee Sing books originally came in smaller format with audio tapes. This is a reformatted, larger size edition without the tape. It does include musical notation, lyrics (and in some cases hand or body movement directions) of each song or rhyme. Section One includes choosing rhymes (choosing sides for teams through use of songs), circle and singing games, show more and jump rope, ball bouncing and clapping rhymes. Section Two includes songs about people we’ve met, animals we’ve known and things we’ve seen.
They’re all here, like London Bridge, Polly, Put the Kettle On, Categories, The Hokey-Pokey, Michael Finnegan, Little Bunny Foo Foo, and There’s a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea. Looking through this book brought back lots of memories from circle games I’d played with schoolmates, and silly songs I taught my kids. You’ve have lots of giggles and fun with this super book. Some of the songs with hand movements are concentration-builders! They are fun for kids to learn and perform. When is the last time you and your kids dissolved into giggles together? Enjoy it with some kids you know soon. After your kids are worn out, enjoy some read aloud stories together to complete the perfect family afternoon.

A nice little book for learning and teaching Christmas carols with children. I think it came with a cassette tape, but I don't think we still have that. The book includes both familiar and less-familiar carols and secular Christmas songs, as well as fingerplays.
Simple kids songs. Nothing great, but what do you expect?
This book uses alliteration to teach the ABC'S. An animal on each page is playing an instrument that begins with the same letter as its name. For example, Abe the alligator plays the accordion.
