The classic: an excellent "classical" description of atmospheric dynamics. Avoids both mathematical rigor and mathematical oversimplification to better push conceptual understanding. Abundant and crystal-clear physical descriptions of many challenging phenomena. Does not deserve the scary reputation it has—many students gain a great appreciation for this text after suffering through Gill or Pedlosky, despite the virtues of those books. (Is the real problem that too many meteorology show more undergrads have deficient mathematical preparation?) show less
