This is part of a series and it is actually the third one, when I agreed to read this I did not know that but I didn't feel lost. Anyhoo we meet Brooke and she has been part of this small town for a long time, her family has been there for decades. She has been made mayor and she really has her work cut out for her trying to bring this town up to date or in this century. Here comes a new comer interested in her and due to her bad experiences and her woe is me attitude she is reluctant. We show more have some mystery thrown in, some humor and eventually some happiness. It was a little slower than I normally like, but I still enjoyed...

Loved this. It was witty, charming and so very well written and edited.
Ms. Brogan has a way with dialogue. Books in first person usually irritate me at least a bit. Not this one. It worked. Sadie, our female protag, had a sense of humor, a self-deprecating style and quite a way of expressing herself.
There is no real grand romance, but there is a lot of fun interaction between Sadie and her man of the book Des.
Yes, there is a gay cousin and a wacky aunt. But there were no derogatory OTT show more stereotypes. Just lots of family love and respect.
Has a definite chick lit vibe, and I don't say that in a negative way. The romance is not the be all and all.
Just fun. Will definitely look for more of Ms. Brogan's contemporaries. I do have one of her historicals on my Kindle, but I am hesitant to read it because her contemporary voice is so strong and fun. I just don't know how that will work with her historicals.
ETA: I keep going back and forth with the stars rating. I think I have finally decided on the 4. I did have an issue with how quickly the HEA happens after a big MIS. The ex was just too much of a bad guy. The mother was also too stereotypical.
But these are issues I only had in retrospect. While I was reading it, I just wanted to eat it up. show less

Thank you to the author for this win which I won on Writerspace's FB page.
How do I describe this book? complicated family, going home after years, divorce, single motherhood, love story (sometimes over the top in my opinion), Island living, flipping houses. It was a cute read but a little too coincidental with everything especially Emily meeting a man (Ryan) in the airport to go to the Island, and lo and behold, he's there to visit his father who happens to be 59 years old who she finds out show more is dating her 26 year old sister, and the same age as her father, the Chief of Police on Island who she hasn't spoken to in years.
Though this was a pretty good first book in the trilogy, not sure if I want to read about her other sisters Brooke and Lilly. show less

Jingle Bell Harbor is just the type of story that brings to mind the image of curling up in front of a warm fireplace and cuddling with that special someone. This story takes the most important elements of the holiday season and brings to life an environment full of enchantment. Jingle Bell Harbor is a story about family, forgiveness and appreciation for the blessings of life. I am glad that I had the chance to read it.
