Scoring His Heart (Texas Highlanders Ice Hockey #3) by Suzan Butler
After an uncomfortable encounter Zoe Logan and professional hockey players, Gavin Ferrara and Misha Kozlov avoid each other for months. With the season about to start back up, they need to address their issues.
Scoring His Heart is an enticing novel that will have you panting for more.
Zoe is a sweet heroine. At nineteen, she is young and innocent. At least before the hockey players get their claws into her. After her mother show more abandoned her and father, she has major trust issues, resulting in running from potential commitments. I enjoyed her growth throughout the novel.
It’s hard not to like Gavin. He’s a hockey player, a definite point in his favor. He is open minded. He wants to do the right thing. I like that he takes in his niece and wants to be a good guardian.
I really like Misha and want to hear more about him in a future book. He is carefree and sexy but secretly would love to settle down.
Scoring His Heart is an exciting book that is hard to put down. The story is well-written, and the plot is stirring.
I admit I was bad and read this novel before the others in the series. I bought the other books, and they are patiently waiting for me to read them on my eReader. I had no problem following this story out of order, but I am now definitely very curious to go back and read the rest of the series.

I really wanted to like this. I like a good story with military heroes, but reading this anthology was a chore. Frankly. I couldn't get through the second story. I understand they aren't full length novels, but I couldn't get over the meet and fall in live in two days concept. Maybe it would have been better if the stories were developed into full length novels and the characters could actually foster story. This was like getting a sugar high from a pixie Stick.

This bundle of wonderful stories that celebrate Navy SEALs is a true delight. I couldn’t wait to read all of the books before writing this review. The first book I read was by Kimberey Troutte, Seal ExTreme Team - book 1, and it was an interesting read. The basic story is of a family kidnapped on an extreme vacation in South America and a team of SEALs called in to rescue them. I had a bit of trouble believing that a SEAL would allow a civilian female to accompany the team even if it was show more an old girlfriend BUT in spite of that I loved the men in the story and would love to read their stories in the future. Jenna and Mack had a blazing good time throughout the book and I would recommend this to anyone who likes a well written romance.
The Navy SEALs e-mail Order Bride written by Cora Seton takes place in Chance Creek and was one I chose to read having read some of the other Chance Creek novels. This story is about a family of four military brothers who are given an opportunity to regain the family ranch IF they all marry within a year and one of the brothers has a baby within that time frame. Mason and Regan meet through an advertisement Mason has posted online and through e-mail, skype and time together they fall in love. I liked this story because the story dealt with issues and overcoming obstacles. I loved the interaction between Regan and Mason and would love to know how the other brothers fare before the end of the year.
I am eager to read the other eight books in this bundle if they are all as good as the first two! show less

I love a good romance involving a big, bad hockey player. Add to that a sassy bar waitress and what’s not to love? Okay, it’s kind of weird to put an ice hockey team in Texas. Texas is land of football, baseball, and barbecue beef. Yes, I know there are hockey teams in Texas. Somewhere. But it’s just so hard to wrap my mind around a hockey player in a land of show more cowboys. Luckily for me there’s not a lot of “Texas” in the story – just a lot of Darren, Val, and, of course, falling in love.
Darren, the hotshot hockey player, is he-man macho, ready to protect his woman (even before she’s his) at all costs. What don’t I like about him? He’s a hockey player with all his natural teeth and no scars. At least, none that anyone mentions in the story. Anyone who reads my reviews knows I like my men with flaws and Darren just doesn’t have any. Despite a failed marriage, he’s not really a commitment-phobe. There’s a little fear about his performance on the ice, but it’s such a minor part of the story it almost wasn’t there. He has no physical scars. No internal scars. Which just makes him too perfect.
Val, at least, has issues. She’s lost her job (a job she truly loves) and is living from paycheck to paycheck (something I can totally relate to). She doesn’t have room in her life for a man – and she fights her attraction to Darren even while watching his games on the bar TV. Her heart wants a man but her brain keeps getting in the way, telling her she needs to get her job and finances in order first. Now this is a woman I can understand.
And now for my nod to realism. In one bar scene, Darren is disappointed to find fellow bar patrons soaking up the baseball playoffs. The television could have been showing hockey’s greatest moments, but the author kept it real. Baseball in Texas and men with beer guts cheering. Overall, a pleasant and enjoyable book. show less
