What is Liam doing for most of the book? I'll tell you what he does. Being jealous, insecure, having second thoughts and being moody. He ruined a good book. Just when I thought I could like him and this new installment in the series, he is all about how Raine and Hammer will no longer need him and how he isn't an important part in their relationship. After what Raine said about her thoughts on the possibility of being pregnant with Hammers baby and her feelings for Liam, I felt sorry for show more Hammer because he is the one who should be the insecure here. He might be the one who had spend six years knowing her, but Liam was in a committed relationship with her and they were living like they already had their happily ever after. I still feel like Hammer is the one who keeps on missing things out. The only good thing Liam did in my opinion was his intention on telling Raine the truth from the beginning instead of keeping it a secret. Otherwise he is just awful. Hammer ends up feeling guilty for the return of the old nemesis from the blurb, but if it weren't for him plenty of things wouldn't have happened. The end in this installment isn't a cliffhanger exactly, but it gave me the urge to begin the next book immediately. Some scenes in the book are not for the light hearted and are rather dark. I will recommend this book and honestly if I could I would recommend to skip the first two books and start with this one. show less
Due to the feelings I had from the first book and the first couple of chapters from the second, I ended up skipping some parts of the book and skimming through some others. Liam and Raine are living like the happy couple they are supposed to be and Hammer is trying to win Raine over. I don't think at this point that Raine, Liam and Hammer will be able to maintain a healthy relationship even if they try. Liam had one taste of Raine, he fell hard for her and he is not willing to share. Raine show more is the damsell in distress even though she is supposed to be feisty and to be able to hold on her own and for me Hammer is the one who is neglected, forgotten and the one who is missing everything. I don't feel sympathetic towards him though because he had so many chances to get Raine. I wanted to see him meeting someone else and falling for her. I wanted this stupid love triangle to end. It kind of does, but I don't think the peace will last. I don't like or trust Liam enough to believe things will go smoothly. The secondary characters are appearing more thankfully and I am starting to like the sadist doctor. I still don't feel like recommending the series because the authors could have made things happen sooner like merging this and the first book in order to make this journey less painful. show less
If I had known I would sign up to read about a love triangle that's not even close to a three way relationship filled with drama and one scene with cheating I wouldn't even give a second thought to the series. The two men in the cover and the title of the series DOMS of her life made me believe that Raine, Liam and Hammer would find a way to work their menage relationship instead of having the two men fighting each other while they were best friends over Raine.
I don't understand how could show more anyone find acceptable that Raine had intercourse with Hammer after she had accepted Liam's collar and it wasn't something Liam wanted. I do not like any character from the trio so far. I don't feel like the secondary characters had enough time to make an impression on me and if I wasn't given the first three books in the series, I wouldn't even think about reading the second book. Even after the cliffhanger in the end and that means a lot to me because I never give up on a story unless I find out how it ends. This series and a couple of others could be the exception.
The BDSM part of the book didn't satisfy me. Even after reading the fourth book (yes I made it that far) I can't say that I was satisfied with what I got. It was too light for my taste. I can't believe how three authors who write about that style couldn't make this work out. show less

*I have only read Countdown by Lexi Blake*
Countdown is obviously a story meant to introduce the main characters and their friends and leave you wanting more. It is a nice short story, but the end has left us with some unfinished business and I demand the next book to be released yesterday. After all, there is a sex tape somewhere in the world and a crazy scientist to stop. We need the full-length book. This short story probably belongs in the master and Mercenaries series, so it might be a show more while because we get the happy ending of any person we have seen in this story.Countdown has definitely picked my interest and I am invested in those characters. It's a great short story by Lexi Blake. show less
