Michael Spence (4) (1952–)

Michael Spence earned his B.A. in English from the University of Washington. Upon graduation, he served for four years as a naval officer aboard the USS John F. Kennedy. Shortly afterwards, Michael began working as a Metro bus driver, a job he still holds. Widely published in journals such as Poetry, Poetry Northwest, Georgia Review, and Southern Review, he has published two poetry collections: The Spine (Purdue, 1987) and Adam Chooses (Rose Alley, 1998). His third collection, Crush Depth from Truman State University Press was published in May 2009. He lives in Tukwila with his wife, writer and teacher Sharon Hashimoto.
