Henry Burp's manners are monsters - and out of control! Henry must figure out how to reign in his manners, or he'll never get to play again. With childish illustrations seemingly drawn with a nearly-dry marker and colored with haphazard splashes of watercolor this free children's book from Michael Winn suffers from a discordance of identity. The format, with its simple words and rhyming scheme, seems to indicate this book is meant for a beginning reader audience. However, the subject matter, show more clearly meant to teach children to take responsibility for their manners, lest their rudeness ruin their relationships with teachers, parents and friends, seems overly preachy and ill-suited for a child who may already find learning to read frustrating. Some formatting issues would also make it difficult for beginning readers; line length varies quite a bit, and sometimes causes the end word to be two lines below its rhyming pair, rather than one. show less
