An entertaining read, I was drawn into the story from page one. Tabitha Short gives us a gem in "Renewal." A glimpse into the life of a young professional woman's life after tragedy. We are given a wonderful story about her journey back to her hometown and family to consume herself by taking care of others. In the end, she finally learns to accept help from others and face her grief.

I am a fan of horror novels and have been since I was a child. When I received the request from Tabitha to review this short story I was excited and couldn't wait to dive into this creepy tale. Halloween is by far my favorite time of year and I couldn’t think of a better way to ring in Halloweens Eve than with a spooky story.
I really love when a horror novel takes something in daily life and twist it to scare the crap out of me as the reader. In this short story show more Mathew hits up the dating websites to find himself some easy action for the night. When Mathew stumbles upon the profile of Vanessa the hot country girl he makes plans to have his way with her sexually of course. What Mathew gets is hardly what he bargained for.
Perfect setting right? Crazy people on a dating site, I swear I warn my friends about this crap all the time! This story is every bit as creepy as it sounds. This "family" that Mathew is dealing with is textbook psychopaths. The things they do are flat out frightening and cringe worthy. This is your classic blood and guts kind of horror story so readers beware.
Tabitha definitely has a talent for writing horror stories but I really want to see what she does with a full novel. I recommend this tale to fans of the horror genre and mature readers only. show less
