This is an Irish tale about a boy who accidentally flooded the town of Ballymara all because his bath tub faucets got stuck. As the water rises the town's people are in a frenzy. The flood is finally resolved when the boy boats himself back to his house and wrenches the faucets to off. He is then declared as a hero by the Mayor. On this day every year the Ballymara flood is celebrated. The story is told in rhyme which makes it a really fun read. I could read this story with the purpose of show more teaching students about rhyme and including an activity in which they create their own rhymes. I could also use this book to talk about remembrance days. Though this story is fictional, it would be good to share that there is always a story and a meaning behind every celebration or remembrance day. show less
This book tells of what happened to a town when a bathtub overflows. No one seems to know how to stop the water from filing up the town. The book rhymes with every escalating picture it depicts. The illustrations are fun. A little boy was the hero. Read and find out what simple thing he did to save his town.
