Ok, have you checked that cover? It is the best choice for a story involving ghosts! I love it and I loved Gull Harbor. First impression, after the first few chapters: “Yes, I like it.” Next impression, after a bit more of the action: “What just happened??? I must finish this!!!” So I started liking it even better!

“Gull Harbor” is full of action and twists, with great characters that have a good background story. I loved how the author combined an angry spirit with lost love and show more how the couple’s story mixed with the mystery of the house. Max’s love for Claire never faded. He had to give her up years ago but his heart always remained with her. Now that life brought them together, he is not willing to give her up, even if that means getting mixed up with her spiritual strangeness. As for Claire, her dedication to her job, the desire to bring peace to a very disturbed soul and most importantly her courage, are just some of the things that make her an inspiring character.

Now, in regards to the overall story, Kathryn Knight added the exact amount of mystery, the perfect dose of thrill and emotions. Having the romance side also well created, I can say this is a complete book for me. It has a little of everything I like. To top that, we have a beautiful narration that only accentuates the emotions and increases the suspense of some scenes.

So yes, a great book that has given me good hours of relaxing (though I did have a hard time listening to it at night… I’m silly sometimes, I know!). I loved it and I loved the characters. Seeing Claire in action can even be motivating and seeing Max doing his best to mend their relationship made my heart skip a beat! 5 stars – great!

This is the first book by this author that I have read. Of course it was the promise of a ghost story that prompted me to read it. It’s part mystery and part romance with visits from Brandy, the ghost of Rain’s friend that went missing many years ago. I wondered if the ghost of Brandy hadn’t been tied to Rain all the time but it took the friends getting together again at Silver Lake to make her appear and become active. Whatever it was it made for a very good ghost story. I could even show more overlook the romance. I will be searching for more of Kathryn Knight’s books. show less

I was very surprised to find out this was Kathryn Knight's first novel, as it was beautifully and thoughtfully written, e.g. there were no plot holes or lack of depth in characters, like you usually find in most author's beginning work as they hone their craft. I really liked the characters, all of them. Very well written and well paced and just a great story, through and through. I am looking forward to seeing what else this author puts out in the future.

If I had any problem at all with the show more book it was the lack of investigation in the book, their purpose for all meeting at the lake house, right? There was a lot of talking, a lot of memories, a lot of drinking and eating and a lot of puddles but not any real investigation... I get why but I guess that's just the type of person I am. I would have gotten out the Ouija board and holding seances or something! But I did love the realistic characters, who all had their own personal motivation for doing what they were doing, whether they believed or not and if you can't pull a good character together your story is going to fall flat, no matter how good the story is... Kathryn Knight definitely delivered. show less

I enjoyed this audiobook! I usually go into books as blindly as possible so I didn't know a whole lot about this one when I got started. I actually had missed the faces at the top of the book's cover so I didn't even guess that there would be some romance. It all worked out since I really enjoy romance and I loved the way that it was combined with the other elements in the books. I am really glad that I decided to give this one a try!

So this book did have a romantic element but it really was show more so much more than that. Mrs. Turner has been experiencing some strange things at her farm since her husband's sudden death a few months prior. She calls Callie to help figure out what is going on. Callie can talk to ghosts and really just wants to help if she can but she is not surprised when Luke, Mrs. Turner's grandson, doesn't trust her motives.

I really liked the characters in this story. Callie had a really interesting past and I really enjoyed learning how she acquired her gift. It was obvious right away that she really had good motives and just wanted to help. Luke was pretty open-minded once the story really got going. He cared about his family and their farm and wanted to make sure that everyone was safe. I liked watching Luke and Callie come together and thought that they had great chemistry.

I believe that this was the first time that I have had the chance to listen to the narration work of Kristen James. I thought that she did a great job with this story and really brought the story to life. There were some pretty intense scenes and I think that her delivery added to the impact of the story. I liked the voice that she used for the characters. She had a very pleasant voice that was easy to listen to for hours at a time.

I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was the perfect combination of romance and creepy ghost story. I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more from this talented author!
