The gardener's atlas : the origins, discovery, and cultivation of the world's most popular garden plants by John Grimshaw
Aimed at the average gardener with some curiosity about the origins of the plants in their garden, this book fulfils this role well. It takes a more unusual approach by plant family rather than by region or period. Nicely illustrated it covers the basics of plant introductions, with interesting sidebars on related topics such as design and cultural significance.
