Gemma is one of these people on the internet that people marvel at, the perfect family, the perfect home. This is not Gemma though; not really, she curates a grand perfect life but she has secrets about her past that her husband doesn’t even know.
Then Gemma and Nick’s five day old son is kidnapped by someone who works for Gemma.
She will stop at nothing to get him back!

This book is told from two points of view and is not just about the baby Thomas’ abduction but there is so much more show more going on including domestic abuse and violence.

It was a tense but gripping read.

The conclusion seemed a bit rushed but it did tie everything up.
I enjoyed the book and really like Ruby Speechley’s writing.

This crime thriller follows Rachel as she tries to find her son Shay, when he doesn’t return from a party he wasn’t even supposed to be attending. When the party site becomes a crime scene after a girl is attacked, and more local children start to disappear Rachel becomes more desperate to locate her son. With shocking possibilities coming to light, she turns to dangerous routes to try and track him down. Of course, this raises two main questions...will Rachel find her son and will the show more other children be discovered? This crime thriller is many times, shocking, If you have a child who is getting close to becoming a teenager it may really scared you. Actually, I think it would scare most parents regardless of the age of their children. There are so many ways in which kids can now be manipulated and groomed even from their own houses. The storyline becomes gritty and suspenseful as the search continues and Rachel tries to find her answers. I’m not sure I would have reacted like Rachel did while searching, but then until you are in a situation where your child is missing, you never know what you could be capable of doing. Overall, an excellent crime thriller and well worth the reading time if you are a crime fiction or even a true crime fan. show less

Gemma is married to Nick and they have a new born baby Thomas. Living in a beautiful house they seem to have everything but things are not how they seem. Scarlett lives with her mom but wants to know more about her dad who she has never known. Scarlett is also in a relationship with Cole but it isn't going her way at all.

I found this thriller quite average. I do like thrillers set in domestic situations and to be fair I was enjoying this one to begin with. Both stories of Gemma and Scarlett show more become intertwined as the book progresses.

The premise was ok with this book and there was enough to hold my interest. The book is a typical thrillerland offering with it's reveals. Again towards the end I did find some reveals just one too many. One particular part at the end I felt didn't quite ring true, especially after what Scarlett did.

This book for me was just average, nothing wowed me but I did finish it. A lot in this book for me was predictable. I may give the author another go in the future.

Gone was an intense read from the start. Rachel is a mother of 2 sons, Shay 16, and Josh. She has recently let her boyfriend David move it.
Shay has been getting into trouble and acting up recently and Rachel told him he was not allowed to go to the party in the woods. On the morning after the party, she wakes up to find Shay gone.
Where has he gone?
A child going missing no matter their age is a parent’s worst nightmare and I know that I would do absolutely everything in my power to find show more them, just like Rachel did.
I liked Rachel’s character and I felt for her every step of the way.
My thoughts on David were that I didn’t like him. He should never have gone against Rachel’s wishes. He is not the boy’s father and is a new addition to the family dynamic.

I felt every emotion while reading this and I kept saying to myself well past bedtime, just one more chapter. I need to know what happens.
I have read other books from Ruby Speechley and they have never disappointed this one was up there with the others I have read. Gripping, Chilling and Great Reads!
