This book was a great surprise for me, I just loved that it is written from the guy’s point of view. Geoff Miller is not the typical charming guy, the one that everyone wants to be with, but instead the guy that likes to study, have good grades, behave, takes care of his mother and knows his place in school.
He had a huge crush with one of the most desirable girl in school Laine Phillips for years, for Geoff she seems to be unattainable; she is with that guy everyone in school wants to be show more with, the high school star. But so slowly and in the most unlike way he is being noticed by her.
You’ll enjoy every page when you read about how Geoff struggles not only with his relationship with Laine but with his stepbrothers and father-in-law, who certainly makes his life difficult. But after everything happens Geoff not only realizes that high school is only 4 years in the rest of his life, and so he did a lot of maturing and growing within a frame of time, he realizes that not just everyone seem judgmental but that he is also one.
Grab this book to see how Geoff overcomes his struggles and try to win Laine’s heart, even though he is geek, a loaner, and certainly not a guy that seems to match the most popular guy in school and battle for Laine’s love. show less

I sat down to read this one and found myself so consumed that I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting. Forbidden romances are my favorite and this one did not disappoint.
Avery & Spencer come from a well known, wealthy family. They are taught to always present themselves in a respectable manner and never let others see their flaws. Most importantly though, they are step siblings tangled in a forbidden romance. They know that their attraction towards one another is wrong, but their show more emotions take over and rules get broken.
The story is told from Spencer's perspective and while I'm not a huge fan of the male's POV, it worked wonders in this story. I found myself intrigued by his thoughts and feelings. He is so torn, yet so dead set on what his heart truly wants. He tries to keep Avery at arm's length for a while, but slowly gives in to temptation. Their romance is forbidden so obviously it is passionate, secretive, romantic, and suspenseful. I was just waiting for them to get caught and have to explain what really was going on.
While I enjoyed this book a lot I would have loved to see the story unfold quicker... The secrets to be revealed and the intense ending we got to go into more detail so we could really feel the emotion. I felt as though it was hard to connect because a huge plot point occurs then we are left with just one chapter to wrap it all up. I definitely think this had major potential to be an emotional, heart wrenching ending that left me thinking HOLY 5 stars, but sadly I was left thinking, What? That's all we get?
All in all, I definitely recommend this book to everyone who believes that love can surpass all. show less

I really enjoyed being in Geoff's head! This book is told completely in Geoff's POV, and I have to say it is very much what I would of thought to go through some teenage boys' minds! Geoff hasn't had it easy socially at Heritage High. Grades and tests? No problem. Mr. Popular? Ha. Nicknamed Geoff Megadeath you can imagine how people see him. But aside from that I was actually surprised at how geeky others found him because he didn't seem that way to me. Just a smart kid who was somewhat show more arrogant at times. But he grows.
It really is amazing how much can change in six months. Geoff just didn't think his life would change so much. I really think the relationship with Laine caused him to shift his perspective over everything in his life. From the first interaction between the two I was able to see a difference. To see Geoff start to live. He really began to see that just because you are alive doesn't mean you are living. I really liked Laine too. I loved that she was more than she seemed. Aren't we all? I think she helps Geoff live and realize that he also has been judging people and Geoff helps her be herself and not someone she thinks she has to be. show less

I'm not a fan of YA books in general, but this was a pretty good first effort from Ms. Celi!
There are some obvious similarities between The Undesirable and Hunger Games, most of which I would chalk up to a recent influence in reading. Another similarity to me, and I don't know if the author realizes it or intended it, seems to be from The Sound of Music, especially with Leisl von Trapp and the young Nazi soldier she falls in love with.
As I said, a good first novel, and I'm looking forward show more to many more! show less
