Short biography
In 1935 verscheen haar eerste dichtbundel, in 1943 haar eerste bundel korte verhalen.

A lyrical narrative with unusually mysterious and mythological intonations blend into sheer realism. It shows how existential enquiry can be successfully undertaken with progressive optimism rather than tragic, and somewhat deterministically regressive pessimism which is so often presumed as the default human condition. Though I haven't read the original, I believe Balraj Verma's translation carries the soul of the original.
show less
Good practice for my Urdu; it’s been a while since I’ve really dug in. I feel like my inventory of “identifiable-on-sight” words about tripled over the course of this book. I also enjoyed the plot and style of this more than the other works I’ve read by Pritam.
A great piece of art must read for punjabi readers and other also because to understand the past happen to our old generation as from what time they come around...

A dystopian novel, told us that during partition of 1947, how women faced the worst of phase as they are being abducted from Camp or from the herd for marriage, lust or for doing household works , how they are treated. This book is plight of one women who face the same but found a way to reunite with family after running away from show more her plight of abduction. Love found is just an incentive in the story. show less
