Okay. With some people it is alcohol; for others it is chocolate (not that I am immune to that one, by the way). For some it is cigarettes; for others it is shopping or shoes. For me, it is books on getting organized. You might think I would be perfectly organized after all of this, but you would be (sadly) mistaken. However, I love books about organization. It makes me feel more organized just reading them. Lest you think I am a complete mess, I assure you I am not. This is a good book. show more Even an normally organized person could pick up a few tips from it, such as how long to keep certain papers in the home office or how never to lose your keys again. show less
The first part of the book is about homeless dogs and how they survived the streets on their own and the many different tales of how they contributed to our society in some heart warming stories.

First of all if you are an animal lover like I am you will be in tears in some of the tales from the famous homeless dogs. My favorite infamous dog was Bum, Bum had his right front paw removed but it never stopped nor slowed Bum down. He became very well known in San Diego and now has a life size show more bronze statue in a pocket park outside the William Heath Davis house with now is actually a museum.

In part two are all of the famous dogs of the 'White House' from George Washington's Poodle whose name was Pilot to Obama's dog Bo. There are some very interesting and intriguing stories that are this short little book about these infamous and famous dogs.

This is a must read for dog lovers. Kate has captured some interesting historical facts and endearing tales of endurance and character from each one of the dogs. Very nicely written and researched Kate, thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review your book.

I found this to be an interesting book that delves into topics of science in a different, kind of trendy way. A lot of the material is well known if you have been around long enough and read science type books. It was an entertaining type of read covering a wide range of scientific topics. I especially liked the concluding chapter on the future and in particular nanotechnology which I find fascinating.
Actually, quite a lot of what's in this book was in my science books, and much of the rest shouldn't be. The book has interesting snippets of popular science treated somewhat better than they would be in a newspaper or general-interest magazine. There's also some interesting biographical information, and a bunch of exhortation to follow the dictates of the environmental movement with none of the scientific and economic dissent against those dictates presented. It's somewhat interesting show more reading, especially for the popular science bits, but one of the weaker books in the genre. show less
