First things first.Hello again hottie from the cover of Easy ;)You are the reason I picked this book at first place.I wish I was the girl you are with in the covers.

And now for the book.I liked this one.The heroine is selfish and immature but she changed and that gave credit to the book.Let's not forget that noone is perfect.Liam is the bad boy that I always loved and will continue to love. And he has a sweet side that only Katy had access to.
The book had some typos but I don't mind. And show more neither are you.For someones first novel it is very good and I liked the story. My only complain is that it was too short. show less
“This is high school, people are stupid."

Yep, I think that pretty much sums it up.

Okay, so I love the cover. I'm always a sucker for a good cover.

and I really liked Liam. He was a good sweet boy. And he was right when he called Hayden a tool.

But for me, that was the end of my enjoying this one.
Katy was just awful. She was rude to EVERYONE! She yelled at her mom, her dad - but those I at least kind of understood (angsty teen and all)

but she yelled at everyone...her best friend, Liam, show more Hayden, random students. She constantly told everyone to shut up.

and the teacher that assigned this homework. Totally nonsensical! Teachers don't call their students delinquents all time. They certainly don't assign partners and then make them tell each other how to attract someone - because the "nice rack" essay (which happened in the book) is just so obvious! And it just smells of a sexually explicit, way too dangerous assignment.

and while we're on teachers, I've never known teachers to suddenly give a kid a break because he got himself a girlfriend...

BUT, all that aside (lol)
there were so me cute moments between Liam and Katy that had me smiling, as long as I ignored all the other stuff.

and yeah, the typos and awkward sentence structure were frustrating and the mistake of Hayden a few times instead of Liam was also annoying.

This is more of a 3.5 stars, but GR doesn't believe in half a star. I picked this up because I loved the blurb. It's a very short and light read, and it was perfect for cookies, a cup of tea and a snowy afternoon.

I loved the chemistry between Liam and Katy. They are so unfazed by each other at first it's almost funny to think things could get so good between them. You can exactly point out the moment things change for both Liam and Katy in their little pretending game. I'm a huge believer show more that opposites attract, so I was giddy with how things turned out to be.

I have to admit I had the same misconceptions about Liam that Katy had. I thought he would be a poor kid with bad family and horrible childhood to make him the way he is, so I was genuinely surprised the way it turned out to be. He's a rebel :).
God, I hated Hayden. He is such a cliche it's not even amusing.

So, this was great, Layla James wrote a good book! It could have more of an emotional impact, I guess, but still. I couldn't relate to Katy at all, she was immature for her age.

Yes yes, there are quite a few spelling mistakes which just seemed sloppy, some grammar mistakes (I can't help noticing these things, it's my second nature), and some inconsistencies (mainly a certain Logan that gets mentioned two times that I have no idea who is but I'm guessing first he was Hayden, then he was Liam, and also, that Liam was Hayden at one point, too. Does this make any sense?)
And it is a big deal, but in the light of some things I've read lately... I do expect the author will go back and fix these things, or at least I think she should.

It's a cute story so give it a chance.

edit: Ah yes, the cover. I don't mind the couple on the cover, but seriously, authors. Find someone new. It's almost funny, either it's this couple or it's the couple from the Obsidian cover.

edit #2: I see the new cover and like it a million times better :).

Good story. I liked it a lot. I would have loved to read more, but I always feel that way when reading. lol

There were some issues, but really just grammatical and spelling, it bugged me, but I let it go. lol Also, sometimes when she was talking about Liam she called him Hayden, and once called Hayden some other name...

Like I said, consistency issues aside, I liked it a lot. I'm giving the story a 4, it would probably be a 5 if the editing was better.

I would recommend it for the story show more totally. :)

Also... I've read some reviews both here and amazon and it's suggested that it's a book for young teens.... I wanted to say, that is a matter of personal preference. I am 32 and I like this story more than I would have as a teenager probably. I didn't care about lovely dovey BS when I was a teenager... I barely had crushes, much less care about fictional couples. lol I am way more girly now than I was as a teenager. lol

I saw someone say that it's more for people around 13, or those who wish they were. I don't think that is entirely fair. Granted, my personality and interests are more like a 14 year olds than a 32 year old. :P But that doesn't mean I want to be that age again, I'd only want that if it meant my mom was still alive. HA! :P
