People have been telling me for a long time now to read a Missy Johnson book and I'm sorry I should have listened to them sooner. This was so good. The writing and the story flowed so easily I never wanted it to end. But it did and now I have ti wait for the next one, which by the way I will be reading. Must find out what happens next.
Started this story not knowing much about it and maybe that's the best part of all. I like going into books blind; more enjoyable that way.
Ryder is such a bad show more boy in every way. He started off a little cocky for me and I didn't think that he would grow on me. I was afraid I would have to put the book down. But I keep going. I thought he was going to end up with a certain chick, then bam - nope I was so wrong. So didn't see that happening. He meets a chick just by reading a fan mail letter from an angry fan. Hehehe thought that I was quite clever there really.
As the book progressed I began to like Ryder more and more. Then the end of the novel due near and I totally fell in love with him, only to feel sorry for him. I can't believe that happened and then nothing. I felt for him and now I need more of this mans story. show less

Charlotte would do anything to catch her big break, even apply to work for Jaxson Murphy, the man assumed to have killed his girlfriend. She knows his past and she's willing to bet there's a story waiting to be told. Being one of his girls may not be her ideal job, but as she gets to know the real Jaxson she's not sure the story is worth losing what they could have.
Jaxson knows there's more show more to Charlotte than meets the eye and he's willing to bet her can get her to help him with his dirty work. When Charlotte plays his game just as well as he does, he finds that he may want to put revenge aside for something more, something he thought didn't exist anymore.
"Thanks for the advice, but I'll pass on the guys for the moment," I say dryly. "That's fine." She grins. "I'm sure there are plenty of fuckable chicks here too."
Within the first few chapters, I was hooked to the unique plot Missy Johnson offered with Resist. A handsome, wealthy, enigmatic man searching for a woman to be whatever he needs her to be. Charlotte was a feisty character, driven to apply for the position to further her career. I never expected for the job to be what it was, but I loved the dialogue and emotions it brought out between Jaxson and Charlotte. While I loved the push and pull between Jax and Char, I found myself desperate to know more about Jaxson's childhood, his missing girlfriend, and the revenge he was so desperate to see through.
She had a spark, and I can't wait to find out what she's capable of -and what she's capable of putting up with.
While the concept of Resist was unique, there were plot holes and continuity issues I just couldn't ignore. From the sex scenes to the suspenseful story line, several scenes didn't connect with the next and left me a bit confused. At one point Charlotte seemed to have a bit of distaste for her mother and later hated her, with no explanation for the change. I wish Jaxson's girls would have had a lot more detail behind them, because in the end it felt like such a minor detail that I didn't understand why anyone cared or why Jaxson really needed them. Jaxson felt like he was missing something, at times he seemed like an empty shell and other times full of feelings. I couldn't get a true hold on who he was as a character, which made it difficult for me to get behind Charlotte's feelings. While I enjoyed Resist, I felt like the last several chapters, and the closure of Jaxon's past, were rushed through. I also could have gone for a very different epilogue, but that's just me!
She groans, her back arching against my touch. She's practically riding my hand as I pleasure her.
Resist is a dark novel that is a lot sexy, very kinky, and has a hint of suspense and mystery mixed in. show less
