This is a hilariously funny, sweet romance between two high school students who are suddenly not only facing their raging hormones, but the sudden responsibility of taking care of a baby. It’s all for a psychology school project, but certainly Kedon and to some degree Tarell take it a lot more seriously than I expected. It makes for great entertainment, and a sweet modern-day fairy tale that has plenty of romance, hot moments, and a touching ending.
Kedon is a bit of a loner. His classmates show more have never really noticed him, and the few times when they have, it did not end well for him. His two best friends are gay, so he is as well – just by association. The truth is that he is gay as well, and has been lusting after the totally unattainable, supersexy and ultrarich Tarell, whose family runs the city. Kedon is shocked to find out Tarell picks him to partner with for the “baby project”, and only gradually realizes Tarell is serious about him. Not that they even get around to doing anything, not with a colicky baby around, even though she is only a doll. Kedon has a big heart and a vivid imagination, and he needs a good science grade.
Tarell has had his eye on Kedon for a while. Initially all he wants is inside Kedon’s pants, but as he gets to know his classmate better and begins to understand what truly drives him, Tarell falls deeper than he ever thought possible. Suddenly keeping him safe and happy, making him smile, is more important than almost anything else. And with someone else after Kedon, Tarell has his hands full. He learns some valuable lessons while he is at it, one of them that money cannot buy everything.
If you like stories that sweep you off your feet into a fairy tale like version of the present, if two high school students in their senior year struggling with the reality of life seem interesting, and if you can suspend your disbelief and enter a world where romance and heat go hand in hand with new love and sleepless nights, then you will probably like this novella as much as I did. I loved it from beginning to end, and ran the gamut of emotions from laughing my head off to shedding a few tears. If you’re looking for a fun, uplifting read, give this one a try.

I do love a good space adventure, and 'The Astral Mage' has got all the required ingredients: a somewhat mysterious, powerful political entity, space ships and planets of all types, space pirates, strangely named materials and weapons. Then it adds another element: astral mages with the ability to manipulate life energy, also known as "soul givers". With some creative world-building and interesting characters, this story rapidly pulled me in and didn’t let me go until the end. And even show more then I wanted to read on!
Tilbarr is captain of the Wolf, a spaceship that finds itself in trouble on a regular basis. They're not exactly pirates – most of the time, and Tilbarr has a particular code of behavior that follows its own set of rules and ethics, but they are not law-abiding members of the ConFed empire either. More like mercenaries who pick and chose their assignments, I guess. When Tilbarr rescues Kyrus, an astral mage, from enslavement and being sold to the highest bidder, everything changes. And not because he is falling in love – at least that is what he chooses to believe – until it's too late and he loses Kyrus.
Kyrus has been abused, mistreated, and hunted all his life. He's seen as a valuable commodity, since his ability to bring people back to life is extremely useful. Tilbarr is the first man who seems to see him as a person, and Kyrus quickly falls for him. Except he cannot allow himself to fall in love, because he won’t be able to survive the pain of being sold on (which is what he expects). Rather than endanger Tilbarr, Kyrus decides to run, even though it hurts him to give up the first chance at happiness he's ever found. But at least Tilbarr will be safe – or so Kyrus thinks.
If you like space opera with galaxy-enveloping plots, if you enjoy reading stories with a touch of the paranormal, and if you're looking for a read that is as entertaining as it is futuristic and suspenseful, then you will probably like this novel.

This book definitely just ends... the second book in the series is a pure continuation of this one. I ended up enjoying the story, but the number of people with a hard-on for our main character is so absurd that I kept waiting for the plot twist where Aphrodite was his real mom or a witch cursed him at birth or something!
“Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” – Murphy’s Law
If you are lucky enough never to have experienced this generally accepted principle of life – at least for klutzes and those who seem to attract bad luck - and have wondered how this “law” works, then you need to read this book. Trace is a monumental trouble-magnet and goes from one catastrophe to the next accident with barely a moment to recover. Except… then Sawyer happened. Sawyer’s effect isn’t immediate, and show more that is the other reason you might want to read this story. While there is lots of drama, suspense, and attempts on more than one person’s life, there is also a beautiful love story. It’s full of hesitancy and misunderstandings, but at the heart of it, ‘Then Sawyer Happened’ shows how two men who never expected to find love, gradually fall or each other- no matter how many obstacles life seems to throw their way.
Trace has had such bad luck before he even makes it to his aunt’s ranch and meets Sawyer that I don’t even know where to start. He loses his job, his boyfriend cheats on him so he kicks him out, then his apartment goes up in flames. When he arrives in Texas to visit his aunt over the summer, she is in the hospital because someone sabotaged her car and she almost died. She puts Trace in charge of running the ranch – including making meals for the hands, taking care of the house, and financial oversight- but Trace can’t seem to get anything right. Mishap after mishap makes him look like an idiot, and when he falls for the straight ranch manager, a handsome cowboy called Sawyer, Trace just knows he is heading for disaster.
But when accidents keep happening, Trace begins to think his aunt is not the only one in danger. A threatening neighbor who wants to buy the ranch, a group of thugs who repeatedly threaten Trace, and increasing lust for Sawyer make Trace’s life almost impossible. Not that it gets any better when he figures out who was behind it all... and wasn’t that a total surprise to me!
If you like sexy cowboys who enjoy rescuing helpless city boys, if a mysterious saboteur is your thing and you think you can figure out who it is from the clues cleverly hidden in the unfolding tale, and if you’re looking for a read that is as funny and hot as it is suspenseful, then you will probably like this novel.
