From Hel, With Love by Blue Remy is a wild ride with roots in Norse and Celtic mythology. Raven, a cross between Celtic and Norse gods and a valkyrie, is a force to be reckoned with. Duncan, all human, just won’t back down. With death stalking Raven’s people, she is forced to fight an unseen and unknown foe to protect her Murder (those who are under her protection). Her strength and her vulnerability are both showcased beautifully. Duncan runs SIPA, a secret branch of the FBI that show more investigates paranormal murders. His attitude makes him a formidable opponent, even for a goddess. Their introduction sets their worlds on fire and opens dark and secret desires.
This book is not for the faint of heart. It’s part mystery, part paranormal romance, and part horror. My biggest complaint was the fact that the missing piece of the equation was telegraphed just a bit early for my taste. This book had me at the first line, and it never let up. Just when you thought you knew where it was going, something shifted, and the picture changed. The action came hard and fast; the emotions as strong and hard as the action. It’s a take no prisoners thrill ride and I’m ready to get back on.
I can’t say the book was perfect, but I can say I strongly recommend it if you like paranormal romance or urban fantasy.
