"It's not that I've ever wanted to be dead. I don't want to be dead. I'm just sick of being alive like this."

I like stories about survival - especially against mother nature, who neither targets you specifically or cares about who you are or what you've done. And this story was very well done. It's mainly the story of two young kids.

One who lost his sister years ago to an "accident" at a lighthouse but has been haunted by her spirit every since. Another is a young girl who recently lost her show more dad. Her last good memory is with him, at the same lighthouse. These 2 meet at a rough moment - as a hurricane is lined up to hit the island this lighthouse is on.

Together, these two are pulled apart and put together through the trials of the hurricane, the island and their own guilt and regrets as they face a possible death. It's a fascinating read as each turn offers new trials and problems. It's a race to finish it once you read half way. I enjoyed this one.

Brawler dives into the dark side of youth sports, identity, and anger. After wrestling champion Eddie MacIntyre throws a punch at a referee and is expelled, he escapes into a brutal underground fight circuit to avoid a life-shattering path home. As alliances and violence escalate, Eddie must reconcile ambition, loyalty, and the consequences of his choices. With 13 AR points and an ATOS level of 5.9 (Lexile 870 L), this intense teen drama will resonate with readers drawn to high-stakes show more realism and emotional reckoning show less
Andi loves her little brother Daniel, but ever since he was rescued from a well in the struggling town of Paradise people have seen him as a provider of miracles. As the demands for his healing powers strengthen, so does Andi's resolve to protect him from pilgrims and zealots and make sure her brother knows he's "normal."
Anderson is trying to prove her brother is not a miracle worker, during the process she finds her own faith and beliefs tested. Set in a dying town called Paradise. Really awesome ending that was totally unexpected.
