I’d probably give it a 3.5 overall, it’s a short story collection and some are better than others, but most of them are 4 star stories. I really enjoyed his writing. The characters seem real, and you feel their situations. The stories are of longing, choices taken and missed, and the consequences in the deep south of the 30’s and 40’s.
