This is a Reacher story that one could mistake for a young Jack Reacher although he might appear a bit naïve and immature. The series is an attempt to copy the style of Lee Child but falls short. At times the sentences are short and sharp but for the most part they revert to normal information. Parts of the story are inconsistent, the author forgetting former remarks. Some sentences are just plain silly while others are absurd.
Not terrible, but definitely not anything memorable either. Plot was so predictable that before it ramped up I had figured it out and ended up being 0 plot twists. We're told many things about Widow, that he has eidetic memory basically and that he's supposed to be some badass undercover NCIS agent who has trained with seals and yada yada on all the other one man army bs and we're told this many times throughout the book that after a point I started rolling my eyes about this. Regarding the show more undercover thing I question this tbh, I mean he's supposed to have years of experience with this at this point. I bring this up because he starts hitchhiking because he on a whim decided to become a drifter, gets picked up and doesn't have a basic story or anything prepped, or you know any clothes toothbrush etc. Minor thing but a number of these pop up throughout the book. Anyways I wont be continuing the series as if I want a Reacher clone there are much better written ones out there. show less
This was VERY reminiscent of the Reacher series. I thought it was OK but only OK. There could have been more action, more intrigue, more sex, more twists and turns... I'm going to stew on this a bit to determine if I want to revisit the series...
