Very creative and surprising! The action and pacing was evenly spread throughout, with fantastic action sequences interspersed with emotional and fluid dialogues. Sandra Ulbrich Almazan starts the novel with a scene designed to pull the reader in, and each scene thereafter follows suit. She does not disappoint.
This is definitely a new series I love! The writing is nicely done. It sucked me in at the prologue and I stayed at it until the very end. I actually caught a few surprises as I show more really hadn't thought the ending would go that way. Definitely recommend show less

A worthy follow-up to "Lyon's Legacy" this continues the story about 18 years later. When his mother is murdered, Paul Harrison travels to a parallel universe that's over a hundred years in the past--or 1980 to be exact. Paul needs to track down his ancestor Sean Lyon, who is like an American version of John Lennon, to find out who killed his mother and to try and prevent Sean's death. But there are forces at work who want to prevent both of those events.
This was a taut and fast-paced sci-fi show more yarn that gripped me from beginning to end. Since Paul and his friends are teens, it works for YA audiences and older readers.

What I enjoyed about the characters was that they weren't all buddy-buddy as a team. Although every character in this novel is likeable and well written, I fell in love with Joanna. The story is compelling and Sandra Ulbrich Almazan displays quite a talent for pacing and flow. This was an interesting book to read. I can see myself reading the next one.
I appreciated the creative story told. I will buy more of her books. The book was fast paced and I found it hard to put down. This book has a show more character for everyone, and a secret big enough to bring them all down. I always love to find new authors in the science fiction genre that are able to put their own unique spin into it. show less

I haven't read the first book yet when I requested this on NetGalley therefore I don't have any story background when I went into Scattered Seasons.
But Scattered Seasons proved interesting even I didn't have prior knowledge of its world mythology. The narrative was pretty clear and concise about it.
But I just couldn't stand Aunt Gabri! Couldn't you just have made her stay at One Oak? Her information about the next Ava Fall wasn't even needed until at the very end.
Full review to come.
