A very dark graphic novel on being different. Everybody lives in the city, where it’s very dark and the air is bad, because of factory exhaust fumes. It’s very depressing to see kids going out to play in the afternoon with their flashlights. It’s a parable on a popular topic: the boy becomes class speaker and is suddenly admired and popular. Then he is discovered to be different from everyone else and just as suddenly no longer popular. Everyone, including the teachers, gangs up on him show more and bullies him for being something they are afraid off.
The story is predictable and depressing but the execution as a parable with insects and factories was very good, I thought. show less
