Oh wow, what a great ride.

A sweet, sappy, sexy, realistic, humorous journey of The Crew, a group of college aged friends who navigate their way through life, death, relationships, college, friendships, dark pasts, demons and love, family and futures.

The author isn't afraid to flesh out characters, to take us to different locations - no laziness here. What a pleasure - no bland, empty plots to fill the pages.

She's given us various dynamics between the different couples. A realistic portrayal show more of young adult interactions and true-to-life occurrences.

We have the jock, the OTT alpha, the gamma, the beta, the playboy douche. The girls are awesomesauce: the beautiful girlie girl princess, the gorgeous don't-mess-with-me athlete, the sexy sweetheart, the skanky ho. Oh..they're all there.. And it makes for wonderful reading.

My triggers abound in this book and the author worked each and every one so that it just wasn't an issue for me:

Trigger - heroes who have loved before, who are STILL hankering after their ex gfs - if this scenario is gonna work for me, this is how it must be done. I had NO problem with this one. His character development is a wonder to watch.

Trigger - heroes who compare their heroines to their ex gfs - works perfectly because we get to see how worthy they BOTH are.

Trigger - the bitch "other woman" from book 1 that now needs to be redeemed in book 2 -stunningly done here. Never have I loved the "other woman" as much as I love this one. She's the quintessential spoilt bitchy princess but the author has redeemed her without giving her a 180 degree personality change. She's bloody adorable and proves her worth.

This is essentially Ethan's story.
His POV. His progress to a solid HEA with the a deserving heroine. My little gamma hero. He's cutiepies.

There are 2 other POVs: the Hxh from book 1.
Brilliantly done. The tension, the love, the sexiness, the anger, jealousy, sorrow, grief, lol humor, and more.....wow. I felt like I could reach out and touch the pure dark manliness of the OTT possessive Dane. Oh, he gives Travis a run for his money. And Laney, her sassy, loyal realness is a complete match for him.

There are minor editing issues but they mean nothing in the face of my enjoyment of this book.

So I've found a new fav author and a book I can read again.

Omg, I got a kick out of these characters. I love Paige. She is funny, and quite entertaining since she has no problem speaking her mind. And her inner monologue could be considered a separate character all its own.
This witty banter that she has with Vaughn is just exciting. I really did laugh out loud about some of their conversations. And lets face it, Vaughn is just as interesting as Paige. With his wit and teasing he is a perfect match for her verbal blows.
She has a past that I really show more want to know more about, but I am willing to wait to find out what that's about. However, something I can't wait for is this next book because that is perhaps the biggest, wildest cliffhangers I have ever read!! I literally yelled at my computer that that can't be the end. I was just so wrapped up in this short story. I wish it was longer to be honest. show less
Ooooh...I have such a hard time with love triangles!! I really, really do. However, I will say that in this book, it works.
Emerge is a story of growing up and how the people you spend your whole life with shape you into who you are.

You have Evan who has been in Laney's life since they were 10 years old. He is safe. He is secure. He adores her.

You have Dane who is exciting and new and fresh.

You have Laney who has to decide which way her heart will lead her. I envision Laney a lot like show more Scout Finch, she has that spunk, that spark. If Harper Lee wrote a book about an older Scout, I bet she would be a lot like Laney.

This book was amazingly well written. The characters were well-developed and interesting. Even the secondary characters. SE Hall definitely has a bright future ahead of her, because DAMN! She can write!

The ending isn't necessarily cliffy, but it made me want the next book...now. Right now. And it's a twist! A HUGE twist. (Oh, how I love twists!!!)

So, even though I am anti-love triangles, I am telling you to read this one. It's worth it. Really. I promise!
