Yes, I love a good mafia romance book. This duet is no exception. There will be blood! The push and pull dynamics between Luciu aka Luc and Jen is great. I love that even when Jen found herself in a dangerous situation, she still had a feisty nature. This just made the chemistry between these two even hotter.
When I imagine mafia bosses, I think of men like Luc. He is assertive but at the same time very protective of the things that are his like Jen. As the story progressed, Jen stepped up show more and started blossoming into a strong, powerful woman that could stand by Luc's side.
Warning: This book has a cliffhanger that will leave you on the edge of your seat. show less

Holy hell.
I was not expecting this story. From the first chapter, I was hooked. I savored every word as if it was the most expensive delicacy. I read fast, but for this story, I forced myself to slow down because I did not want to miss anything. It was that good.
The storyline is complex filled with dynamic and complex characters. I won't lie and say that I understand the loyalty in this lifestyle. However, these brothers are devoted to their father and for the most part, the father seems show more like a good guy, but rules with an iron fist. I am not sure if I was Eoghan that I would have love for my father. However, it was partly because of that contention between them that lead to this particular love story, and for that, I am so thankful because the love story of Eoghan and Inessa was everything that I have come to love in romance. The chemistry was there, the connection, the slow-build into something more, and the feelings.
The author didn't just throw them together and make them instantly perfect. This lifestyle, even though it was normal for both of them, isn't "normal" because violence and marriages for alliance sakes are a way of life. Watching them adjust to this slowly was delightful to watch unfold. The chemistry was fire and when they finally did connect it was spectacular. HOT. HOT. HOT.
There were characters from other stories that I have not read and I did not feel lost. It did, however, make it so that I wanted to go back and read more about these characters. The hints of what is to come next have me giddy because what is better than a mafia romance based on hate? The correct answer is NOTHING. I highly recommend this book. HIGHLY. show less

Sweet Holy Titfire.
There is a reason that this series is one of my favorites, and this book is an example of that. Normally, I am able to sit down and write a review when I am done with a book. I had to wait a day before I did that because A). I stayed up all night to finish it and B). because I was still processing how amazing the book was.
Even after processing the book, I still am in a fog. The book was fantastic. The characters and plot twists were even better. There was a little bit of show more everything in this book, complex situations, betrayal, love, self-discovery, and acceptance. However, even as amazing as those things were individually, it was how they interconnected with the other books and other series that truly had me astonished at this writer's ability to pen a story. There is a lot of detail here. Characters have moments where I loved them and then struggled with them only to still love them despite their flaws or shortcomings (Looking at you Aidan Sr). The events that were happening in this book which also happened to influence the Dark and Dirty Sinner's MC floored me. When I started this journey I read this series and that one separately. I can now see that I need to go and read them interchangeably so that I get the full experience instead of binge reading all of one before doing the same with the other. Even though the story stands on its own, I think it would have even more impact if read that way because then the Easter eggs or moments would have the impact that they deserve to have.
I wasn't sure if Eowhan and Inessa could be topped. Well, they need to move right over because Camille and Brennan just took the top seat (even over the Guys and Gals in the MC). The steamy times in this book were a slow build but once they went all in it was game on. Good lord was it hot. I liked that Brennan helped Camille learn to love herself and, furthermore, understand herself. It was redemptive and healing to watch Camille grow and in growing also give Brennan a chance to own his own guilt.
I cannot wait for whatever this author writes. She was a 2020 discovery and regardless of whether it is RH, PNR, Mafia, or MC, I am here for it. show less

4.6 Well played stars
When a book starts out with a warning that you might want to throw your kindle, take heed. This dang book... I have never loved a story and also been so frustrated as I was in this book. There is a lot going on. Again, there are other characters that have an occasional chapter and have their portion of the story that ties together with the overarching backstory that is shared by all of these amazing characters. When I started this series, that confused me a little, show more however, with so many fires going at one time now, it all is coming together and moreover is necessary.
There are a lot of cogs in the machine that is this story. It ties together with the Filthy Five Points series as does there in some aspects. I would have thought that it would have been too confusing to try and keep up with everything but this author is a machine and she not only does it well but it has me wanting more.
Strong characters, gritty (just like I enjoy it), insane story, steamy times, and humor, all while mixing some pretty heavy topics interlaced with angst and suspense. I did want more of a resolution in regards to what he had hidden from his brothers but other than that I absolutely loved watching Maverick and Ghost.
LOVED the epilogue, but the part before the epilogue, YEAH, that made me want to scream and throw my kindle. I need answers ASAP. show less
