This book was useful for reminding me of the French I had already learned a few years ago. However, I would not recommend it for anyone who does not already know some French, as it is not well organized. It is almost all phrases, very few individual words and no grammar. Also, it is almost impossible to look up French phrases and figure out what they mean in English. However, it was very inexpensive; less than half the price of the next-least-expensive book.
Small in size, easy to carry, this is a very useful travel companion with almost everything a `foreigner' will need to communicate. There is a short section on pronunciation, and a 1278 `expressions', which are short sentences enabling the tourist ask the right, precise questions and give to-the-point answers. The expressions include all areas of travel- difficulties (example: `I do not remember the street'), greetings, general expressions, lodging, restaurant, café, food, shopping and show more personal services, health, and communications. There is `useful information' section with days, months, seasons, time, numbers, metric tables, measurements, a native food and drink list and a detailed Index.
This booklet is not lacking in any feature a traveler needs. It is thorough, brief, fun and user-friendly. It is laid out in an easy to learn format. show less
