I first read this book when I was in fourth grade, and I was captivated. I still remember vivid details, like Amy as a child praying for blue eyes instead of brown. As a missionary, she darkened her skin and went into the temples to rescue Indian girls before they were sold into slavery. One of the Indian women who worked with her commented on the good fortune that, unlike many white people's, Amy Carmichael's eyes were not blue.

Little details like that are what brought this biography to show more life and endeared it to my heart. I reread it many times as a kid and highly recommend it. show less
Had my son read this for independent reading. He said it was ok. He is a reluctant reader so I am sure an avid reader would enjoy it!
