The first strips of FoxTrot, which is a strip I dearly love. Most likely because I know what it's like to live in a sitcom. The characters are so well drawn (both physically and with consistent characterization), it's full of jokes about the genre and being a comic artist, and the humor is cute rather than mean. I still re-read this volume and the others I own every few years.
Comic strips like this are comforting in their repetition. I don't think I've read the strip regularly in the last ten years, but I pick this book up and the creator is still doing the exact same jokes. Sure, he has to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, but it barely makes a dent in the number of jokes about how bad Roger is at chess, how much food Peter can eat, how nerdy Jason is, how Andy's vegan cooking is awful, and how Paige is just every teen girl ever.
In a world of such turmoil, it's show more nice to see some things remain constant.

Meet the Fox Family. Their quirky antics are similar to a family you may know. Quarreling and competitive siblings, Peter, Paige and Jason, with parents who attempt to participate in their children's lives. Hilarity has been successfully woven into each scene.
One scene demonstrates Jason attempting to be Dr. Doolittle by inviting the little birdies to come along and either rest on his sunbathing sister or leave some droppings behind. The kids are fun characters who are figuring out how to show more handle school, classmates and pets with classic humor attached will have readers of all ages chuckling and giggling. Another scene incorporates mom with child at the dinner table. Child is too full to take another bite. Mom suspects child is too full for dessert. Nope, not at all, child can eat dessert with one swallow. What parent wouldn't recognize this scenario?
These hilarious family characters are recognizable and will have everyone picking the scenes they've actually experienced. A great family read for all. show less

This is a very solid FoxTrot collection. Like the back says, if you read a lot of FoxTrot then you've probably read a lot of these before in other collections, but either way this is a good group of comics and the ordering is nice and linear so they make sense together. I'm guessing this is a "kids" edition in the sense that it focuses on the three kids moreso than Roger and Andy which is my preference anyways.
