Flying Nun records helped shape my identity as a university student and Straightjacket Fits were one of the headline acts of that era on my stereo. Then I headed down many other musical paths before discovering my love of this time. As Carter himself realises, you can travel a long way to find out that your opinions aged 17 were about right. Anyway, it's a good, entertaining read by a tricky bastard from a destructive family. I won't pretend the writing is consistently great, but I also show more appreciate that it does not become a self-reflective and apologetic treatise. He's an interesting character and as a memoir it is far more insightful than some others. show less
