This title is part of a 4-book creative nonfiction collection that focuses on northern mammals. Each story is a third-person narrative that tells the adventure of a single animal. All of the stories in the collection relate to each other some how.

This title includes a narrative about a wolf pup. The pup wants to grow up and learn to hunt. He tries to catch his first animal independent from his family. A problem occurs, and he learns to stay with his family until he is older.

Glossary and show more informative fact page in the back. Very pretty illustrations that are consistent throughout the series.
For teachers, I would recommend any books in the read and discover collection as a mentor text for creative nonfiction.
