I have been a fan of Jill Clark Nordfors Needlelace for a long time, but but this one is equally good for beginners. This one has the best explanation of how to do a cordonnet (and why it has to be done so finickily) that I've encountered so far.
Wonderful reference for beginning Needlelacers!
