Martina Haag

This book is about a break-up extremely similar to the author's own, and while you kinda expect it to be her way to air our dirty laundry, it's really not that. It's more about the process of breaking up and getting over it, moving on, than about publicly defaming someone.

Does it matter if everything in it is real or just some things? No, because most of it feels real, and that's what counts.

My only complaint, lowering the score, is the ending which felt abrupt and weird. I didn't dislike show more it, but it felt rushed and I feel the book is short enough that it wouldn't hurt to have expanded that a little. Also the Norwegians were so rude, I hated them. show less

I started to listen to this book last year, but there came a point whee I just felt that I was either going to have to DNF the book or stop listening to the audio book and read it instead. I waited and today I found it online to borrow from the library.

Martina Haag is much more known for her more feel-good books. But, this is I will say Martina'sway of writing about her pain of going through a divorce. So, she writes about a woman whose husband leaves her for another woman, a woman he has show more been working with doing a TV-show. This is what's happened to Martin Haag in real life. So it's fiction, but still some grains from reality.

I was curious about this book. I mean most of us likes to read gossip and to get a book about a bitter divorce written by someone who's divorce was very bitter, well it's interesting to read. But, also, it feels a bit wrong. But hey, at least, she earns some money from this.

The book is, well, not that good to be honest. It feels a bit rushed, like a therapeutical way of dealing with one's anger and grief. A way to gain sympathy. What I had a problem with, was that she kept on trying to promise thing (money to charity if Anders would return to her), to change herself so that he would come back. Yeah, she was quite desperate. I think this book should have worked better if the story had been deeper and the characters less flat. This way of writing works when Martina is writing her feel-good books, but this book feels like an early stage before the characters and the story are fleshed out. The book is just too short, my version was just 140 pages. And, to be honest, choosing to write a book where the storyline is too close to reality is perhaps not the best. She could just as well write a biography.

The book was so-so. It was best in the beginning, got awfully annoying towards the middle and the last of the book worked thanks to the fact that I was reading it and not listening to it. show less

Detta är en bok som är baserad på verkliga händelser. Trots det har jag oerhört svårt att kunna säga att det finns något märkbart av värde i den, vilket tar emot: Haag saknar verkligen en naturlig och en inövad förmåga att skriva, vilket färgar av sig på allt. Ännu värre är att hon, mitt i sina sorgebeskrivningar, slänger ur sig floskler och ord som faktiskt bara beskriver händelser, men som egentligen inte frammanar riktig empati.

Det är oerhört orättvist, men jämför show more den här boken med någon annan misärbok som har att göra med otrohet och sorg, exempelvis Bodil Malmstens "Det här är hjärtat", som verkligen behandlar sorg. Med ett par meningar lyckas Malmsten dela läsarens hjärta och få vem som helst att fatta att det handlar om en beskrivning från hjärtat, från hjärnan och som verkligen blir stor konst till sist.

Jag kräver verkligen inte stor konst av Haag, men jag hade inga som helst förväntningar när jag började läsa boken. Den är däremot fylld av floskler, en sidoberättelse om att resa till Sveriges norra delar och en flamsighet som totalt förstör alla möjligheter boken har till att beröra. Dessutom är all dialog och alla situationsbeskrivningar förpestade av en oförmåga att berätta vad karaktärerna upplever och känner, och i stället ytligheter som borde beröra, men som inte gör det.

I pocketupplagan spenderas hela fem sidor på slutet till "Pressröster". Där skriver Jens Liljestrand från Expressen att detta är "Lena Andersson för chicklit-publiken", vilket är att totalt förkasta alla som läser "chicklit", Lena Anderssons oerhört välskrivna och innehållsrika böcker (samt hennes läsare) och att lyckas recensera något lika väl som Haag skriver.

Alla som någonsin har upplevt otrohet och/eller sorg känner igen sig något i den här boken, men det betyder verkligen inte att en upplever det med Haag.

Läs Malmsten, Andersson, Michel de Montaigne...vad som helst förutom detta, som borde ha varit en fackla, som hade kunnat vara ett ljus i mörkret, men faktiskt bara är som att hitta en fjärrkontroll som en försöker använda om och om igen, innan en upptäcker att batterierna inte bara är slut, utan har läckt sönder hela apparaturen. show less
