Maleea Acker

This short book of nature writing focuses on a very specific ecosystem (See the subtitle.) to good effect. Although it's an ecosystem I've never seen, Acker's descriptions and accompanying photos help me out with the context, but the book is really about more than just that ecosystem. It's about how we define nature and how we go about restoring natural places. It's worth reading whether your interest lies in the region or in the naturalist philosophy.
