Reviews
Gleason Archer's book is another must-have book in the library of a reading Christian. This is a superb scholarly introduction to the Old Testament that does not compromise faith. One of the most important contributions of this work is to demolish beyond all thought of salvage, the absurd and now thoroughly discredited Wellhausen theory and its Documentarian cohorts. Archer's work is precise, detailed, interesting and important.
This encyclopedia is intended for everyone, from scholars and students to laypersons--for all who are troubled by apparent contradictions in the Bible. It argues for the unity and the integrity of the Bible and should convince the skeptic and reassure the person who may be confused by the seeming discrepancies in Scripture.
