Using the words of every soldier who agreed to talk, battalion histories, radio logs and his own return to a battlefield where he fought, this is a masterful and exhaustive account of the battle at the individual and platoon level in chronological order, unit by unit. Includes the chaotic delays in medical evacuations due to the lack of night flying gear and loss of helicopters and naval support at key times. Among the para's were 17-18 year old recruits with no combat experience. Units show more lacked proper winter gear and had no nightscopes. The best book on the subject. Recommended for anyone in a winter campaign. show less
