Emma Windsor is an extremely private person. Her father is the only one that knows her hopes & dreams. Everyone else, including her boyfriend Kyle, is only allowed as close as she wants them. Her mother left her & her father when Emma was only 3 & its colored all of her relationships since then.
"How was it possible that two parallel pink lines could completely change her life?"
Could she let Kyle in? Would he stay or would he leave her? What did she know about being a mom?
Kyle is a star show more player for the Newport Beach Seagulls. He's normally on top of his game. Something is interfering with his concentration & skill. He's spending more time in the penalty box than making goals. He's been content to go with the flow in his relationship with Emma since he doesn't want to scare her off. Then he finds out she's kept something vitally important to her from him, her dream to dance on Broadway.
"Why," he began, picking his eyes up. They were filled with an emotion Emma had never seen in them before -hurt. And she was the cause of it. "Why couldn't you tell me?"
This showcased their relationship as far as he was concerned. She held back & wouldn't let him in & he didn't know if he could continue to take it. Could they find their way to a deeper, more meaningful relationship? Would finding out about the baby make it worse?
Ms. Myers has created a series around a hockey team & it's families. Even though this is one in a series, it can be read alone. The characters are well defined & relatable. Anyone can understand Emma's fears of people leaving & how it affects her life. The relationship between her & her father is close & very lovable. It seemed like she was a strong independent woman but yet there were flashes that made you think of a self centered spoiled girl. Kyle came across as too laid back at the beginning. As they each traveled their journeys, you began to see other sides of their characters. I really enjoyed this story & would recommend it to anyone who isn't offended by sexy romances & a little dirty talk. show less

A mythical and paranormal feast for the soul.
I absolutely adored this book, and can't wait to dive into its follow up. You initially think it's your typical new adult romance, when BAM! Shocker, that's the last thing this is. It's not PRETTY LITTLE LIARS, or RIVERDALE. Think much, much bigger. The setting is the city of Onyx (think Gotham but a tad less violent). Guarded by a secret hero called Dark Wing. We are introduced to a few teen girls, but each have important roles to play. Luckily show more they are all connected via either friendship or blood. This book had many layers of secrets. How does a girl trapped in a coma for a year suddenly awaken right as rain? There are Greek myths, angels, fallen angels and the devil himself within these pages. All jockeying to see how the battle will begin, and WHO strikes the match. Slowly each girl learns her role as each delicious page and chapter it's revealed. This is just the beginning... show less

I have always loved a good revelling, especially when it isn't the exact story, but the author's take on something that stems from it. I find them intriguing and exciting, and I thoroughly enjoy looking out for those little head nods toward the original story.
I did like the premise of this story, especially since I had a thought that the original pan story was really a kind way to say the children passed, so they went to neverland and never had to grow old. I'm odd like that. So when this show more book had a firm telling that revolved around death taking you to neverland, I was very excited.
I liked the characters the author created for us. They were fun and had little bits and pieces that connected them back to the original. I liked that they grew throughout the story and created bonds with one another. I would have liked a bit more detail for the characters, but I am hoping that there will be more depth added to them in the future reads.
Overall, this was a great read and truly gave us something new, with a hint of the original, which was fun and enjoyable.
**I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. show less

Seraphina Hanson has inherited a hockey team, the Newport Beach Seagulls, from her grandfather. She has had to educate herself on hockey & learn to recognize talent & the drive to succeed in players. After a dismal first year, she has the team on track to make the playoffs this year. There is a new expansion team this year called the Las Vegas Blackjacks. The team is managed by Phil Bambridge who is a sexist pig. He's the perfect villain to hate.
Brandon Thorpe is the star goalie for the show more Seagulls. He has had feelings for Seraphina for a couple of years but hasn't acted on them. During the trip to Vegas, things come to a head as tension rises & erupts into passion. Did they just play into Bambridge's hands?
I enjoyed this book. Even though it's part of a series, it can be read as a standalone without feeling lost. The passion between Brandon & Seraphina is intense & hot. The interactions between them showed the position they were both in & the way they were being pulled in different directions. The interactions between Seraphina & her sister & friends were typical conflicts with the way they viewed the conflict but also how they banded together to support her. This book & its storyline showed the intrusiveness of media into the lives & families of those they consider public figures. Full of hot sexual scenes, this book is not for someone easily offended. show less
