An elegiac and haunting book of real beauty, and one of the few erotic books to successfully aim higher than just the navel. I have read more fiction on the kink than I would care to admit, but only three sit on my bookshelf year after year. I only wish I could find more to join them.

The story is built up like an Impressionist's painting, little overlays or mosaics. The heat builds slowly, inexorably, stoked by each successive image and unfolding of the writing. I'm surprised that no one has show more reviewed it here before, but Amazon's readers say it all - from its brilliance all the way through to severe one-star disappointment that it isn't just the usual junk. show less
