I have to say that this was my favorite story from Renae Kaye thus far, and it doesn't hurt that I also thought it was the smexiest of her works as well.

Both Elliot and Hank are starkly lonely in the small rural town in which they live. Once they know each other's secret, they forge a friendship and then an intimate relationship while trying to keep their own growing feelings for each other under wraps. This was definitely fun, flirty, playful and hot. This had great sexual tension, and it show more was sweetly realistic witnessing Hank navigate the ins and outs of his first relationship ever.

There was also some pointed angst and topical concerns regarding small town homophobia. These guys' situation of being forced to hide their sexuality due to fear of losing their friends and livelihood was a bit heart breaking. There was also a vulnerability to Hank as he believes he couldn't possibly hold Elliot's interest to keep him from going back to the city once his loan obligation was fulfilled.

So again Renae Kaye does great with tender angst and mixing it with a lot of humor and warmth. These two MC's didn't have a bad bone in their body and it was wonderful watching the natural progression of them falling for each other. Overall a fantastic, feel good, smexy read!

I felt rather sorry for Liam but also exasperated with him in his inability to accepted that his sexual orientation was more than likely bi and that his father’s bigoted opinions didn’t matter. His antics were sometimes very comical and Jay?... he was just a sweetheart that made the book warm and funny. I liked that he was smart...and at very at home in his skin. I tried to think how my two “book bringing” gay friends compared to Jay and will have to say that I am 150% sure there was show more no way either of them would be caught dead wearing lipstick of any shade or bright red plaid pants. But hey...it suited Jay just fine. I couldn’t wait for Liam to just accept Jay for who he was and get on with the program. Somehow the author made these two sometimes kinky and exhausting character work. show less

I read this in less than a day, didn't want to put it down, loved it from beginning to end. The cover fist caught my attention on Amazon, then I read the synopsis, got the sample right away, and was buying the book before halfway through the sample.

The only weird moments were the scenes with Jake's rude attitude to his freaking employer at the beginning. I mean, I really don't think he would have gotten away with that. But, he and Patrick soon became friends then lovers, so that bit blew show more over quickly. And the rest of the book was fabulous--emotional, heart-warming, hilarious, enlightening. It was a pleasure to read, felt genuine, and made me so happy. Jake was such an incredible guy, raising his sisters from the time he was still a child himself, supporting them and his drunkard mother still, and then dealing with the twists (that I guessed early on). I loved him and Patrick as a couple, and Patrick fit Jake perfectly as needed someone to care for him, and Jake needed to care for someone, in both the physical and emotional sense, now that Jake's sisters were moving on with their lives. This book just worked in every sense, and it will stick with me. The plot was also original and flowed very naturally.

This is the second book I've read from Renae Kaye (I also loved Loving Jay), and I definitely hope there are more coming. Highly recommended, especially if you like books with an MC with a disability. The other I've read with the narrator having a blind love interest was N.R Walker's Blind Faith series, and I actually liked this book better than that. It felt more genuine and less construed and formulaic than Walker's series.

Kee is back in the scene after a year hiatus because of domestic violence. First night back at a club...he found Tate as his first hook up even though Tate is totally not his type. A big part of the story is about Kee getting back and spending time with his friends and meeting and dating Tate. I wa s surprised that Tate was so open about his worries about age and weight. He was sometimes over the top conscious about himself and Kee's minor PTSD. The issues may sound heavy. The book was both show more amusing and romantic with Tate being a bit kinky about almost everything and with Kee being like a fish out of water most of the time. He did give the story a sometimes-comical flavor. I think they’ll be good for one another. Kee deserves some peace after “Matt the Rat”, his ex and abusive boyfriend. I still have to wonder... is ‘twunk” even an actual word???? show less
