Kunkush: The True Story of a Refugee Cat (Encounter: Narrative Nonfiction Picture Books) by Marne Ventura
Awwww. Great picture book for talking about immigration and the good things people do.
Eight projects, most of which require crafters' tools and adult assistance. 'For further reading' note. Projects are cute, especially the bracelet from soda pop tabs and the birdhouse/ fairy house.
Worth ordering from ILL for the birdhouse alone, imo, if you have a tree in your yard or park so you have a source of twigs and pine-needle fans. You also need a drill (or hammer and awl) if you are going to use it for birds, and a hot glue gun is recommended as it will work so much better than show more liquid glue. show less

A book all about Neil deGrasse Tyson! It details parts of his life, education, and interest in science and astrophysics, as well as including science content. The book is broken into short chapters and is perfect for mid-upper elementary.
