The second in the series that I purchased and read--our store had them all signed and shelved--it was closest to my heart due to its setting. I loved Dyed in the Blood, the first I read, because the east coast setting seemed exotic, but this one relates to my prairie roots. The author's past as a game warden allowed a feel of authenticity in descriptions of offices and officers' dealings with cretins, but it's the environmental protection that gets me. The old rapper who disappeared for his show more own safety was a strong character. Loved it. A few typos in the series, which I annoyed the author by pointing out. show less
