The first instalment in Devon March's "The Mystery of Pleasant Valley" series sees the beautiful and vivacious Olivia Rossi returning home after a year away to find her hometown in the midst of some form of sexual frenzy with all and sundry falling into bed with each other in a lustful pleasure orgy. Olivia also succumbs but she realises, along with her geeky friend Max, that there is something amiss and that the centre of the sexual anarchy is possibly the small library in the town. This is show more a highly enjoyable read, with a hugely entertaining conceit at the centre of the narrative - the town enslaved to a sexual spell offers myriad opportunities for differing and exciting scenarios, so hopefully the mystery of Pleasant Valley won't be resolved too quickly. A good initial set of characters has been developed and hopefully they will be further fleshed out over subsequent instalments. Olivia makes for an appealing heroine - calm, confident and sexily serious and it will be interesting where her story goes next. show less
The second instalments in Devon March's "The Mystery of Pleasant Valley" series Max concludes that there is a supernatural force at work in Pleasant Valley and believes that the mysterious, wolfish Luke may hold a clue. Meanwhile our heroine Olivia heads to the library where she confronts the librarian Cal before finding herself being confronted by a bizarre, orgasmic, many-tentacled female presence. This is another highly enjoyable read, that builds on the mystery outlined in the first show more instalment. The writing is strong, sleek and full of pace – perhaps a touch too much pace in places, making some aspects of the story a touch hard to follow in places. This is a minor quibble, however, that hopefully will be ironed out in subsequent instalments. I very much look forward to seeing where the story goes in the third instalment - "The Witch's Orgy". show less
